I shoot surprise proposals one couple at a time, so light, location, and a narrow window of availability all come into play. Sunrise and sunset sessions only happen during specific hours each day, and I can only fit a handful of proposals into any single morning or evening.

That means the most popular dates, especially around holidays and busy travel months, can be claimed before you even land on the island. Once I am booked for a time slot on a given day, that slot is gone.

When Is the Best Time to Start Planning Your Proposal

Reach out as soon as your travel dates are confirmed, ideally while you are still booking flights and a hotel. You don’t need to know the exact beach yet or the exact words you will say. I just need your arrival window.

Reaching out early gives you the first choice of my sunrise and sunset slots, more flexibility if your travel dates shift, and time for me to ask about your partner's personality, your ring shot ideas, and a simple backup plan in case the weather does not cooperate.

Peak Seasons to Plan Your Proposal Around

Hawaii draws visitors throughout the year, but I notice a few stretches consistently bring more proposals my way. If your trip falls into one of these windows, it is worth reaching out earlier rather than later.

If you are proposing during the cooler winter months, I will let you in on a nice bonus: it is humpback whale season in Hawaiian waters, so sunrise sessions along the coast sometimes come with a surprise of their own offshore.

Sometimes plans come together fast, and that is completely fine with me. If your trip is only a few weeks away, reach out anyway. My availability depends on the specific date and time of day you want, and I often have openings during daylight hours even when sunrise and sunset slots are full.

From there, I reserve your date and time slot, and we work out the smaller details as your trip gets closer. If your dates change, that same conversation makes it easy for me to adjust, since I build everything around your actual travel window rather than a fixed script.
