You’ve booked the trip. You’ve picked the ring. You've had a hundred different visions of the moment.
Now you’re standing on a beach in Hawaii, heart pounding, the sun dipping low behind you, and your partner has no idea what’s coming.
Surprise proposals are unforgettable, and here on Oʻahu, they’re also something else: cinematic. The golden light. The sound of the ocean. The stunned, tearful smile when they realize what’s happening.
And when you have a photographer quietly ready in the wings, it all becomes a story you can hold onto forever.
Why Sunset?

Sunset in Hawaii isn’t just beautiful, it’s emotional.
The sky shifts from gold to pink to deep blue. The water catches fire with color. Everything slows down. It’s the kind of light that turns a memory into magic. And for something as once-in-a-lifetime as a proposal, you want that magic.
We’ll time your proposal around the best light, typically between 6:00–7:00 PM during summer, and 5:00–6:00 PM during winter, depending on the season. I’ll scout the exact spot beforehand to make sure it’s clear, quiet, and ready for your big moment.
How the Surprise Stays a Surprise
You don’t need to worry about how to keep the secret. That’s what I’m here for.
Some clients tell their partner it’s a “couples photo session.” Others simply ask for a walk on the beach before dinner. Whatever your style, I’ll help you plan every detail so nothing feels rushed or suspicious.
I’ll blend into the scene, camera-ready but discreet. And when you drop to one knee, I’ll be there, capturing every second.
From the oh-my-god moment to the laughter and the kiss and the look in their eyes, those are the moments that matter.
Where Should It Happen?
Oʻahu has endless proposal spots, but choosing the right one depends on what kind of atmosphere you want.
Want iconic views with Diamond Head in the distance? Try Waikiki Beach, Kahala Beach, or Magic Island.
Craving privacy and waves crashing against cliffs? Lanai Lookout or Makapu‘u deliver every time.
Looking for wide-open sand and soft light? Sandy Beach is peaceful and perfect at sunset.
Not sure which fits your vision? I’ll help you find the ideal location, based on where you're staying, how private you want it to be, and what vibe fits your love story.
What Happens After the “Yes”?
We won’t just stop at the proposal. After they say yes (and wipe away a few happy tears), we’ll ease into a just-engaged mini session.
You’ll laugh. You’ll breathe. You’ll hold hands and kiss under the fading light. And I’ll guide you through a few natural, beautiful portraits to mark the very first moments of your next chapter.
Bonus Tip: Consider bringing a second outfit for your partner to change into after the surprise, or I can pack a light picnic or lei upon request to add something extra special.
